An IP address conflict occurs when two communication interfaces in the network assign the same IP address. Endpoint can be a PC, mobile device, or a network adapter. Between two intervals, IP contrasts usually make one or both of them unusable for network operation.

Two computers or other devices may receive abusive IP addresses in many ways:

System Administrators refer to two computers at a local computer network and a similar static IP address. The system administrator specifies a consistent IP address within the DHCP range of the computer's local area network and the same address is automatically assigned by the local DHCP server.

If there is an error in the network's DHCP server, that same dynamic address can automatically be assigned to multiple computers. This can happen when the mobile device is hibernate and then re-enabled. An Internet Service Provider accidentally assigns identical IP addresses to two clients in a stable or dynamic way.

There may be other types of IP conflicts in the network. For example, if a computer is configured with multiple adapters, then the computer may have IP address disputes. The network administrator can also create an IP contradiction by connecting accidentally connecting network switches or two networks of network routers.

Identify the IP address paradox

Specific error message or other IP signal collision is based on device type and network operating system.

If you try to set up a fixed IP address on many Microsoft Windows computers that are already active on the local network, the following popup error message will be displayed:

Configurable static IP address is already used on the network. Please rearrange another IP address. Dynamic IP contrasts with the new Microsoft Windows based computer, and when the operating system detects this issue, the balloon error message appears in the taskbar:

An IP address conflict with another system on the network.

Occasionally, especially on older Windows computers, pop-ups may display the following message:

The conflict for the system's IP address has been detected ...

Solve IP Address Conflict

For IP issues, try the following solutions:

For networks where IP addresses are set up, make sure that every localhost is configured with a unique IP address. If your computer has a dynamically assigned address, leave your IP address and upgrade to avoid IP address conflicts.

If you think your broadband router has a defective DHCP server that has problems with an IP network, update the router's firmware to fix the issue.
